- Cortney Tidwell was born and raised in Nashville, where her father and paternal grandfather ran the country-music label Chart Records.
- Her maternal grandfather was a musician who had played at the Grand Ole Opry, as did her mother, who had a successful career as a country singer in the 1970s.
- Her first full-length album, 'Don't Let Stars Keep Us Tangled Up,' features guest appearances from Kurt Wagner and William Tyler of Lambchop.
