- By the time of this Toronto concert in 1971, Neil Young had been a solo performer for three years, after stints in Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
- Just a year later, Young had a massive hit with his 'Harvest' LP, which reached No. 1 and also spawned a No. 1 single in 'Heart of Gold.'
- Young recently said about the Massey Hall concert, "This is the album that should have come out between 'After the Gold Rush' and 'Harvest.'"
