The Mother Hips hail from California's Bay Area. Their sound embraces both psychedelic rock and '60s pop.
Super producer Rick Rubin signed the Hips to his American Recordings while the band members were still college students.
The renowned party band reunited after a much-needed brief hiatus in 2004.

What do you miss most about your party-band days?
I don't remember being in a party band.
What led to you reuniting?
I had figured out that playing with the Hips was more enjoyable than anything else.
What's the best fake explanation you've given for your band name?
Greg was the piano player in the marching band, and I pushed the dolly the piano was on.
