- The Outline -- singer/guitarist Graham Fink, keyboard player/guitarist Austen Lee, bass player Max St. John and drummer Ryan Rabin -- formed in Los Angeles in 2002.
- The band based the name of its debut album, 2006's 'You Smash It, We'll Build Around It,' on a quote by John Lennon.
- On their first night on 2006's Warped Tour, they were the last band and played only three songs before they were shut down.
