1. Rodrigo y Gabriela first met as teenagers in Mexico City and both played in a metal band called Tierra Acida.
2. While busking in Dublin, Ireland, the pair was discovered by Damien Rice, who invited them open his 2003 tour.
3. They describe their music as "fusion music" with "Latin harmonies and rhythms, but the structure is rock."
4. When they moved to Dublin, neither of them spoke any English and had only $1000.
5. Rodrigo had trouble getting a visa to perform in the United States this year.
