Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings
1. Sharon Jones spent several years working as a corrections officer at the Sing-Sing maximum security prison in New York.
2. Jones appeared as a juke-joint singer named Lila in the 2007 film 'The Great Debators, 'starring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker.
3. Big Daddy magazine in London declared her the Queen of Funk.
4. The Dap-Kings are also the house band for Daptone Records and tour with Amy Winehouse as her backup singers.
5. Bosco "Bass" Mann of the Dap-Kings admitted to Spinner that "playing with Amy is cool, but playing with Sharon is an experience."
