Five Facts About the Old 97's
1. The Old 97's have performed various secret shows under names including Satellite Riders, the Very Soft Boys and Hermit's Hermanns.
2. During the earlier part of his career, frontman Rhett Miller performed with Sleepy Heroes, and was quoted in Seventeen magazine saying that the way to his heart is "grooviness."
3. Fellow musician Ryan Adams and Miller had a manufactured feud. The idea was Adams', according to Miller, but the Old 97's were not interested. Still, Adams continued with the idea.
4. 'Murder (Or a Heart Attack)' was named one of the 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born by Blender.
5. Bassist Murry Hammond has sole songwriting credit on two of the tracks for their newest release, 'Epic.' But Miller insists that this album was a much more "collaborative effort" then previous releases.
