6. Outback Uses Of Montreal's Song for 'Let's Go Outback Tonight'
Product: Outback SteakhouseThe Pitch: "I see our mission as being like a doctor. The young hipster is deprived of a basic food group -- red meat. Our goal is to get the kid to take his dosage. Wrapping the steak in sticky, sweet indie pop helps it go down good -- and stay down."
Lyrics You Don't Hear: The neo-psychedelic tune's original lines "Let's pretend we don't exist/Let's pretend we're in Antarctica" are replaced by "Let's go Outback tonight/Life will still be there tomorrow." OK, this one is admittedly improved by the new words.
Sellout Quotient: 6/10
Though indie rockers Of Montreal rerecorded the 2005 song themselves, it's hard to classify them as sellouts when more people have heard the Outback version.
